Abstract

El libro ofrece una introducción sistemática a los manuscritos del Mar Muerto, descubiertos en Qumrán a mediados del siglo XX, cuyo hallazgo transformó radicalmente los estudios bíblicos. La obra analiza la procedencia de los textos, vinculados a una comunidad judía que vivió en el mismo contexto social, político y religioso en el que nació el cristianismo y predicó Jesús. Desde distintas perspectivas —histórica, literaria, teológica y espiritual— los capítulos muestran cómo estos manuscritos permiten comprender mejor la diversidad del judaísmo del Segundo Templo, su práctica religiosa y sus expectativas escatológicas. El libro subraya también el valor de los textos de Qumrán para el estudio de la Biblia, ya que aportan paralelos lingüísticos, contextuales y doctrinales que enriquecen la interpretación del Antiguo y del Nuevo Testamento.

This book provides a systematic introduction to the Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered at Qumran in the mid-20th century, a finding that radically reshaped biblical studies. It examines the origins of the texts, linked to a Jewish community that lived within the same social, political, and religious context in which Christianity emerged and Jesus preached. From historical, literary, theological, and spiritual perspectives, the chapters illustrate how these manuscripts shed light on the diversity of Second Temple Judaism, its religious practices, and eschatological expectations. The volume also highlights the importance of the Qumran texts for biblical studies, as they offer linguistic, contextual, and doctrinal parallels that enrich the interpretation of both the Old and New Testaments.
