| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | In the last years, Internet use is widespread, resulting in that most people use this tool. This implementation has been sudden and explosive, getting in a few decades a generalized use. Those facts give rise to new diseases related to the misuse or abuse of Internet. This article aims to study this addictive consumption relating with low self-esteem and belonging to a particular generation. The possibility that sex influence these variables are also contemplated. The sample was composed of 139 subjects (N = 139) including 3 different generations X, Y and Z. These individuals were analyzed by two tests: the self-esteem scale Rosenberg (Vázquez, Jimenez y Vazquez - Morejon, 2004) and the scale of Internet addiction or IAT (Widyanto, and McMurran, 2004). The results of this study can be summarized in the following sections: there are significant differences in the misuse of internet between generation X and Z, having controlled the self-esteem of individuals and their sex; the self-esteem of the subject and the level of Internet addiction correlate negatively, may assume self-esteem a protection factor; and finally, self-esteem and sex of the individual influence the presence of Internet addiction suggesting in this study than in future articles investigate the nature of this relationship. | es_ES |
