El caso de los mejores equipos de la Liga Española : gestión económico-financiera vs resultados deportivos

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar el impacto de la normativa UEFA del Fair Play Financiero sobre los resultados económico-financieros de los principales equipos de fútbol de la Liga Española, así como estudiar la relación entre dichos resultados y el rendimiento deportivo de los equipos. Así pues, en primer lugar, a través del análisis de las cuentas anuales y de determinados ratios, se trata de comprobar si las normas del Fair Play Financiero han mejorado los resultados financieros de los equipos de fútbol; y, en segundo lugar, el análisis econométrico permitirá obtener conclusiones acerca de la influencia de los resultados deportivos en los resultados financieros de los clubes. Dicho análisis se ha realizado tomando como base los resultados deportivos y financieros de los equipos de la Liga Española con mejores resultados deportivos en las últimas 9 temporadas. Los resultados muestran, por un lado, que el Fair Play Financiero está teniendo un impacto positivo general en los clubes, aunque en algunos clubes analizados de forma individual no ha tenido demasiada influencia; y, por otro lado, que los puntos obtenidos en Liga y el rendimiento en competiciones europeas son variables que afectan positivamente a los resultados económico-financieros de los equipos de fútbol.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the impact of the UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations on the financial results of the main football teams of the Spanish League, as well as studying the relationship between these results and the sporting performance of the teams. Firstly, through the analysis of the financial statements and some ratios, the paper will analyse if the Financial Fair Play regulations have positively affected the financial results of the football teams. Secondly, the econometric analysis carried out will show some conclusions about the influence of the sports results in the financial results. The analysis has been conducted based on the financial and sports results of the Spanish football teams with best results in the last 9 seasons. The conclusions of this paper show that Financial Fair Play has a positive overall effect on the football teams, although in some teams considered individually it has not had a lot of influence, and they also indicate that the points in the Spanish League and the performance in European competitions affect positively the financial performance of the teams.
