El arte como alternativa de inversión : evidencia empírica de las preferencias de los gestores españoles

Abstract

El presente trabajo trata de llevar a cabo un estudio del mercado del arte como forma de inversión alternativa mostrando la situación actual de este mercado. Para ello se ha llevado a cabo un análisis de la literatura existente hasta el momento. Se han tratado de reflejar las principales características diferenciadoras de este mercado, así como las limitaciones y posibilidades del mismo. Además, se hace especial énfasis en los estudios relativos a la tasa de retorno de este tipo de inversiones mostrando sus principales aportaciones y su evolución. Por otro lado, se elaborado una cartera de inversión formada por activos artísticos comparando la evolución de los precios de las obras de arte con los del IBEX 35. Por último, el trabajo pretende acercarse a la percepción de los inversores españoles frente a la inversión en arte. Para ello se ha realizado una encuesta cuyos principales hallazgos han sido reflejados.

The present paper tries to analyze art as an alternative investment asset, showing the current situation of the art market. For this purpose, an analysis of the existing literature has been carried out. The paper tries to reflect the main differentiating characteristics of this market as well as its limitations and possibilities. Special emphasis has been placed on the studies related to the rate of return of this type of investments, showing their main contributions and their evolution. On the other hand, the paper includes an investment portfolio made up of artistic assets that has been created in order to compare the evolution of the price of artworks with those of the IBEX 35. Finally, the paper aims to approach the perception of Spanish investors regarding art investment. To achieve this, a survey has been carried out. The main findings of this survey are reflected on the paper.
