Proyecto educativo para padres con hijos de entre 5 y 8 años en tratamiento con quimioterapia. Intervención nutricional

Abstract

El cáncer infantil es una de las enfermedades más graves que afecta a los niños y niñas y, generalmente, se trata mediante un procedimiento muy agresivo: la quimioterapia. Este tratamiento, entre otros efectos secundarios, provoca en el niño un grave deterioro nutricional, llegando incluso a alcanzar un estado de caquexia. Debido al alto número de casos de malnutrición en pacientes oncopediátricos, se puede deducir que los padres necesitan ayuda en cuanto a la intervención nutricional que ejercen sobre sus hijos. Por esto, el objetivo de este proyecto es mejorar el estado nutricional de los niños con cáncer a través de sus padres, que al fin y al cabo son los encargados de su alimentación. Para alcanzar dicho objetivo se llevará a cabo este proyecto educativo, el cual se dividirá en 6 sesiones en las que se tratarán conceptos básicos de la enfermedad de su hijo, se darán recomendaciones nutricionales y se ahondará también en el plano psicológico de los padres.

Childhood cancer is one of the most serious diseases affecting children and is usually treated by a very aggressive procedure: chemotherapy. This treatment, among other side effects, causes to the child a severe nutritional disrepair, even reaching a state of cachexia. Due to the high number of cases of malnutrition in children who suffer from cancer, it can be deduced that parents need help about the nutritional intervention they exercise on their children. Thus, the aim of this project is to improve the nutritional status of children with cancer through their parents, after all they are the ones who are responsible for their feeding. To reach this target, this educational project will be carried out and it will consist of 6 meetings in which the basics of their child's illness will be treated, nutritional recommendations will be given and will also delve into the psychological state of the parents.
