Aprendiendo a cuidar

Abstract

La demencia es un síndrome debido a una enfermedad del cerebro, de naturaleza crónica o progresiva, en la que hay déficit de múltiples funciones corticales superiores, memoria, pensamiento, orientación, comprensión, cálculo, capacidad de aprendizaje, lenguaje y juicio. Al presentar estas deficiencias es precisa la presencia de un cuidador, el cual ayude a cubrir esas carencias. El cuidador tendrá que aprender a cuidar de esta persona cubriendo las necesidades que él mismo no puede cubrir, esto le llevara a una situación de estrés y sobrecarga, de la cual él debe saber diferenciar los aspectos positivos y negativos que derivan de esos cuidados. Con nuestro proyecto ayudaremos a estos cuidadores, a dar los cuidados de la mejor forma para el familiar y para él mismo, les enseñaremos en que consiste la enfermedad, las consecuencias derivadas de cuidar y como dar esos cuidados.

Dementia is a syndrome occures due to a disease in the brain, because of a chronic or progressive nature, where there is a deficit of multiple higher cortical functions, memory, thought, orientation, comprehension, calculation, learning capacity, language and judgment. In presenting of these deficiencies, a carer has to accompany the patient to help him covering these gaps. The carer must be familiar with the disease to be able to give the right care for the patient, this will lead to a situation of stress and overload, which he must learn to differentiate the positive and negative aspects arising from such care. With our project we will give these carers the appropriate training to give the best care for the family and for themself, we will teach them what is the disease, the consequences of care and how to give that care.
