Análisis teórico y práctico del concepto puerto-ciudad

Abstract

Es indudable la importancia e impacto de los puertos en nuestro entorno. Por ello el presente trabajo analiza la figura de los mismos en conjunción con el de ciudad, dando lugar al tan actual concepto puerto-ciudad. Partiendo de un análisis histórico desde el comienzo del planteamiento urbanístico de las ciudades y cómo se desarrollaban ambos actores desde diversas perspectivas (legislativa, cultural, social, económica, medioambiental), se tratará de profundizar en la necesidad de comprender las características esenciales de la relación entre ambos, así como los factores decisivos para la adecuada consonancia entre los mismos. Desde un punto de vista práctico, se analizará el caso de la ciudad de Valencia y las problemáticas actuales.

It is undeniable the relevance and impact that harbours have within our surroundings. The aim of the present work is to analyse the role that port plays jointly with the figure of the city; both arising the so present concept of Port-city. Starting from the base of an historical analysis, from the very beginning of urban planning and taking into account how both roles developed from different perspectives (legal, cultural, social, financial, environmental) it will be treated the necessity of understanding the main aspects of the relationship among both as well as the relevant elements in order to achieve their optimum functioning. From a practical perspective, the case of Valencia city and the current issues will be treated.
