Beneficios de la música en oncología pediátrica

Abstract

El cáncer es una de las enfermedades más prevalentes en la población pediátrica. Además de ser una enfermedad con numerosos síntomas físicos, como el dolor, tiene un fuerte componente emocional que afecta notablemente en la evolución y el estado de ánimo del paciente. En los últimos años, han ido adquiriendo especial relevancia las terapias complementarias (que son aquellas que actúan junto a las terapias médicas para mejorar el estado del paciente) y entre ellas la musicoterapia. La música como terapia se va utilizando cada vez más en numerosos hospitales alrededor del mundo y su uso en España va aumentando de forma progresiva. Mediante este trabajo he tratado de hablar de los beneficios de ésta y el por qué deberíamos utilizarla cada vez más en los servicios hospitalarios. Objetivo general: El objetivo principal de este estudio es analizar la eficacia del empleo de música en niños hospitalizados con patología oncológica, y sus efectos a corto plazo. Metodología: El tipo de estudio que se lleva a cabo en este trabajo es observacional transversal, ya que el objetivo de éste es la observación y el registro de acontecimientos sin intervenir en el curso natural de estos.

Cancer is one of the most prevaling sickness’ in the paediatric population. Additionally to being a sickness with numerous physical symptoms such as pain, it has a strong emocional component which affects notably the evolution and mood of the patient. In the last years, the complementary therapies have been acuring special relevance (which are the ones that act paralel with the medical therapies in order to improve the state of the patient) and among them the music therapy. Music as therapy is being used more in numerous hospitals around the world and their use in Spain has been increasing progressively. Through this report I’ve tried to talk about the benefits of this and the reason why we should used it more in the hospital services. General objective: The principal objective of this study is to analize the effectiveness of the use of music with hospitalized children suffering from oncological pathology, and its short-term effects. Method: The type of study done in this job is an observational cross, since the objetctive is the observations and registry of events without intervention in their natural course.
