y enmascarado a simple ciego.
Objectives: Bruxism is a parafunctional activity characterized by unconscious clenching or grinding of the teeth, either day or night. This study aims at evaluating the effectiveness of neuromuscular and trigger point techniques combined with the use of occlusal splint versus the traditional treatment based just on the occlusal splint in patients with bruxism. Material and methods: It is an analytical, experimental, longitudinal, prospective and masked single-blind study. The sample is composed of 44 subjects aged between 30 and 40 years old who come to the maxillofacial surgery of the Hospital La Paz consultation, and they are diagnosed with bruxism. The subjects will be divided into two groups randomly: the control group, to which the usual treatment will be applied, and the experimental group which includes neuromuscular and trigger points techniques in the main masticatory muscles. Two measurements are made: pre and post treatment. It is evaluated the muscle activity of the masseter and temporal, the threshold of pressure pain and the mouth opening of the patients. |
