La vuelta al proteccionismo: el Brexit y las políticas de Donald Trump.

Abstract

El presente trabajo versa sobre las nuevas tendencias proteccionistas que han surgido en el mundo desde la grave crisis económica iniciada en 2008. Partiendo del análisis de dos sucesos actuales: la victoria de Donald Trump y las políticas implementadas por su gobierno, por una parte; y, por otra, el voto positivo de la población británica a favor de la salida del Reino Unido de la Unión Europea (comúnmente conocido como Brexit), este estudio ha tratado de analizar la relación de ambos hechos con la crisis. Por ello, se ha hecho un análisis histórico que muestra la relación entre las épocas de crisis y de bonanza económica con las políticas proteccionistas y aperturistas que han ido implementando los gobiernos a lo largo de la historia. Además, se ha investigado sobre los dos sucesos mencionados indagando sobre sus causas y consecuencias presentes y futuras.

This paper discusses the new protectionist trends that have emerged in the world since the severe economic crisis that began in 2008. Starting from the analysis of two current episodes: the victory of Donald Trump and the policies implemented by his government, on the one hand; and, on the other, the positive vote of the British population in favour of the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union (commonly known as Brexit), this study has tried to analyse the relationship of both events with the crisis. For this reason, it has been made a historical analysis that shows the relationship between times of crisis and economic prosperity with the protectionist and openness policies that have been implemented by governments throughout history. In addition, research has been carried out on the two events mentioned, investigating their causes and present and future consequences.
