An overview of natural gas network tariffs design considering the regulatory principles as guiding criteria

Abstract

This paper analyses current approaches and proposals for gas network tariffs design at international level. Current challenges are examined so as to establish specific guidelines for natural gas tariff design considering the main regulatory principles as guiding criteria and taking into account that current approaches to allocate regulated infrastructure natural gas costs pursue mainly cost recovery, disregarding economic efficiency.
