La influencia de Juan Pablo II en la caída del comunismo

Abstract

Este trabajo tiene como fin analizar la influencia de la figura de Juan Pablo II en la caída del comunismo, partiendo de su primera visita a Polonia como Sumo Pontífice, en el año 1979. Se expondrá el comunismo y su caída desde una perspectiva global, tomando en cuenta los factores más relevantes del contexto de la época, midiendo de esta forma hasta qué punto fue relevante la figura del Papa. Entre estos factores, se pretende analizar el papel destacado que jugó el presidente norteamericano Ronald Reagan, en constante lucha contra el comunismo, así como la situación económica de la URSS y el presidente Gorbachov. Así, se pretende estudiar el nivel de relevancia de los distintos factores que propiciaron la caída del comunismo en Europa, destacando, entre ellos, el papel que jugó Juan Pablo II y la religión cristiana.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the influence of John Paul II in the fall of communism, beginning with his first visit to Poland as Supreme Pontiff in 1979. Communism and its fall will be exposed from a global perspective, considering the most relevant factors of the context of the time, thus measuring the extent to which the figure of the Pope was relevant. Among these factors, the aim is to analyse the outstanding role played by US President Ronald Reagan in the constant fight against communism, as well as the economic situation of the USSR and President Gorbachev. Thus, the aim is to study the level of relevance of the various factors that led to the fall of communism in Europe, highlighting, among them, the role played by John Paul II and the Christian religion.
