La influencia de las potencias europeas del siglo XIX en el reinado de Isabel II de España

Abstract

Reinar en el siglo XIX en España siendo mujer y protagonizar el paso del absolutismo al liberalismo, habiendo heredado la corona con tan sólo tres años e iniciando el reinado efectivo diez años más tarde, no debió de ser tarea fácil para la reina Isabel II. Pero más aún, si ni siquiera ella misma era dueña del estado español. El siglo XIX se caracteriza por ser un siglo complicado en Europa donde la lucha entre el liberalismo y el absolutismo condicionó la balanza del equilibrio de poder. Las potencias europeas jugaron un papel fundamental en la cuestión sucesoria de España determinando el futuro de la monarquía borbónica. La influencia de Francia y del Reino Unido sobre la política exterior de España fue tan relevante que no se podría entender el reinado de Isabel II sin estudiar previamente el poder que ejercían ambas potencias sobre el reino español.
