Tánger : el siglo XX visto a través de los recuerdos de una ciudad del norte de Marruecos

Abstract

El propósito del presente trabajo constituye llevar a cabo un análisis reflexivo del papel que ha desempeñado la ciudad marroquí de Tánger en el contexto de las relaciones internacionales del siglo pasado. A través de su historia se analizarán las diferentes etapas que atravesó dicha ciudad, desde su internacionalización hasta su incorporación al actual reino de Marruecos, pasando por los breves años de ocupación española durante la segunda guerra mundial. Partiendo, pues, de un enfoque cronológico, se investigará cómo Tánger se vio implicada en la geopolítica mundial y las repercusiones de esta implicación. A su vez, se hará un estudio crítico del significado peculiar que posee esta ciudad tanto para las potencias europeas como para el discurso ideológico del nacionalismo marroquí actual. El trabajo concluirá con una reflexión sobre la importancia de las ciudades como elementos clave en la política internacional a partir del ejemplo de Tánger.

The purpose of this work is to carry out a reflexive analysis on the role played by the Moroccan city of Tangier in the context of the international relations of the last century. Through its history, the different stages that this city went through will be analyzed, from its internationalization to its incorporation into the current kingdom of Morocco, passing through the brief years of the Spanish occupation during the Second World War. Taking a chronological approach, we will investigate how Tangier became involved in world geopolitics and the repercussions of this involvement. At the same time, a critical study of the peculiar meaning that this city has for both the European powers and for the ideological discourse of current Moroccan nationalism will be made. The work will conclude with a reflection on the importance of cities as key elements in international politics based on the example of Tangier.
