Hazara Afghan Refugees and the Role of Iran in the Syrian Civil War

Abstract

Los Hazara, un grupo étnico chiita de Afganistán, han sido perseguidos durante siglos debido a la inestabilidad política del país. La mayoría huyeron al país vecino, Irán, para solicitar asilo y buscar una vida mejor en el país chiita. Sin embargo, no han sido capaces de escapar de la pesadilla de la guerra. Irán, aliado de Bashar al-Asad y de Hizbulá, creó una división militar, la división Fatemiyoun, formada solo por «voluntarios» afganos, para enfrentarse a los enemigos del islam chiita en la guerra civil siria. Los refugiados afganos están luchando una guerra que no les corresponde. Con la excusa de «defender los santuarios», Irán envía a miles de afganos a morir como carne de cañón en Siria para poder mantener su poder y fuerza, alcanzar el liderazgo y preservar sus intereses y privilegios geopolíticos en Oriente Medio, mientras les llama «hermanos» y viola sus derechos humanos.

The Hazaras, a Shiite ethnic group from Afghanistan, have been facing persecution due to the political unrest of their country for centuries. Most of them have fled to neighboring Iran, seeking asylum and a better life in the Shia country. However, they have not been able to escape the nightmares of war. Iran, a great ally of Bashar al-Assad and Hezbollah, created a military division, the Fatemiyoun division, composed only by Afghan “volunteers”, to confront the enemies of Shia Islam in the Syrian Civil War. Afghan refugees are fighting a war that is not theirs. Under the excuse of “defending the shrines” and with an offer of financial incentives and legal residence, Iran send thousands of Hazaras to die as cannon fodder in Syria to retain political power and strength, to pursue leadership and to preserve its geopolitical interests and privileges in the Middle East, while calling Afghans “brothers” and violating their human rights.
