La influencia de la Iglesia Católica en las políticas sociales de la UE

Abstract

El trabajo pretende explorar la influencia de la Iglesia Católica en la política de migraciones voluntarias. Para ello, se analizan dos perspectivas. Por un lado, una perspectiva internacional, en la que se compara el Pacto Mundial para una Migración Segura, Ordenada y Regular con los 20 Puntos para los Pactos Globales elaborados por la Santa Sede, con el objetivo de encontrar las similitudes en materia de derechos de migrantes y de política migratoria para poder llegar a conclusiones acerca de la intención y consecución de objetivos de la Iglesia. Por otro lado, una perspectiva europea, en la que se analiza el papel que juega la religión en las instituciones y políticas europeas para posteriormente conocer cómo la Iglesia encaja dentro de la Unión Europea y cómo despliega su influencia en estas instancias, incluyendo su labor tanto directa mediante organismos que la representan como indirecta a través de las diferentes organizaciones en el seno de la misma. Finalmente, se evalúa la realidad, el grado y el impacto de dicha influencia.

The project aims to explore the influence of the Catholic Church in voluntary migration policy. It therefore analyses two perspectives. On the one hand, an international perspective, in which we compare the Global Compact for Orderly, Safe and Regular Migration with the 20 Points for the Global Compact prepared by the Holy See with the objective of finding similarities about rights of migrants and approach to migratory policy in order to reach conclusions about the intention and achievement of the Church objectives. On the other hand, a European perspective, in which we analyse the role religion plays in European institutions and policies to know how the Church fits in the European Union and how it influences it, including its advocating activity both directly through its officials channels of representation and indirectly through the organisations that depend on it. Finally, we assess the reality, degree and impact of the aforementioned influence.
