La sobrecarga del cuidador de pacientes con demencia con relación a las ayudas sociales

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio es evaluar la asociación entre la sobrecarga de cuidadores informales de pacientes con demencia y las ayudas sociales disponibles debido a la falta de evidencia disponible y al cambio reciente generado por la LAPAD. Además, se describirán las características sociodemográficas de los cuidadores principales y la situación funcional de los pacientes con demencia, así como la relación de estos factores de riesgo y la sobrecarga de los cuidadores. Esta temática de investigación viene alentada por fines que encaran un enfoque comunitario e interdisciplinario, con el objetivo de mantener la calidad de vida de los cuidadores informales. Ahondar en cómo se encuentran física y psicológicamente, en sus circunstancias y demandas más inmediatas con el propósito de ratificar la imperativa necesidad de atender y mediar con esta población, para fortalecer su salud desde la perspectiva socio sanitaria. Metodología Estudio observacional descriptivo realizado en el Servicio de Geriatría del Hospital Ramón y Cajal en el mes de noviembre de 2018. Se incluirán a los cuidadores principales de pacientes con demencia atendidos en consultas externas y en planta de hospitalización. Se recogerán variables clínicas de los pacientes con demencia, características sociodemográficas del cuidador y los recursos sociales disponibles.

The aim of this study is to assess the association between the overburdening of informal caregivers of dementia patients and the social supports available due to the lack of available evidence and the recent change generated by LAPAD. In addition, the socio-demographic characteristics of the main caregivers and the functional situation of patients with dementia will be described, as well as the relationship of these risk factors and caregiver overload. This research topic is encouraged by aims that address a community and interdisciplinary approach, with the aim of maintaining the quality of life of informal caregivers. To delve into how they are physically and psychologically, in their most immediate circumstances and demands with the purpose of ratifying the imperative need to attend and mediate with this population, in order to strengthen their health from a socio-health perspective. Methodology: A descriptive and observational study carried out in the Geriatrics Service of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in November 2018. The main caregivers of dementia patients attended in outpatient consultations and on the hospital ward will be included. Clinical variables of dementia patients, socio-demographic characteristics of the caregiver and available social resources will be collected.
