adaptabilidad del EQ-i.
Purpose: The objectives of this study were to: 1) explore the relationship between the variables psychopathological symptoms, emotional intelligence and reasons for choosing a career; 2) evaluate if there are any differences between students of Psychology and 3 those of Translation and Interpretation in the variable psychopathological symptoms; 3) observation of the evolution of the variable psychopathological symptoms in Psychology students with along their studying period. Method: Ex post facto prospective design with incidental sampling. The sample consisted in 270 subjects (206 students of Psychology and 63 of Translation and Interpretation) of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid. The Symptom Assessment-45 Questionnaire (SA-45), the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i short version) and a questionnaire developed by the researcher called Reason for Choice of Studies were used. Results: Statistically significant negative and low relations were found between all the dimensions of the SA-45 (with exception of the paranoid ideation dimension) and the adaptability dimension of the EQ-i. Also, statistically significant positive and low relations were found between all the dimensions of the SA-45 and the stress management dimension of the EQ-i. The relationships between the dimensions of the SA-45 and the intrapersonal dimension of the EQ-i were statistically significant, positive and low. Statistically significant and positive relations between the dimensions of SA-45 and the dimension of prevention of the questionnaire Reason for Choice of Studies were observed. This dimension (prevention) correlated positively with the dimension of stress management and with the intrapersonal dimension. There are no significant differences in the dimensions of the SA-45 between students of Psychology and those of Translation. Finally, a reduction was observed in the punctuations of the dimensions that compose the SA-45 in the more advanced courses, except for the dimensions hostility and obsessioncompulsion. |
