Abstract

Este trabajo aborda la problemática del duelo perinatal buscando poner en relación el dolor de la pérdida y los procesos de vinculación y creación de identidad. Para esto se describe el proceso de transición a la maternidad y cómo perder a un hijo atenta contra el mundo de significados y la manera de entenderse y relacionarse de la mujer. Se busca hacer énfasis en la importancia de dar protagonismo a la persona en su proceso de duelo, atendiendo al mundo representacional de la madre que ha sufrido la pérdida. Asimismo, se busca responder a si la mujer, a pesar de la terrible pérdida que ha sufrido, sigue siendo madre.

This paper addresses the problems of perinatal grief, seeking to link the pain of loss and the processes of bonding and creating identity. To do so, the process of transition to motherhood and how losing a child affects the world of meanings and the way women understand and relate is explained.. The aim is to emphasize the importance of giving the person a leading role in the mourning process, taking into account the representative world of the mother who has suffered the loss. Another question to be answered is if the woman, despite of the terrible loss she suffered, is still a mother.
