Inmunoterapia: Nuevo pilar del tratamiento oncológico

Abstract

El organismo humano dispone del sistema inmune, que actúa como principal barrera protectora frente a los cuerpos extraños que pretende causar algún tipo de daño. La inmunoterapia tiene como principal objetivo potenciar la actividad inmunológica para hacer frente a las sustancias cancerosas de una manera más eficaz, atendiendo a las distintas características que presenta la enfermedad. El desarrollo de estas nuevas terapias se debe en gran medida a los numerosos estudios que en la actualidad se están llevando a cabo en las diferentes líneas de investigación y que a pesar de llevar relativamente poco tiempo ya son una realidad. Estas nuevas técnicas están demostrando resultados prometedores en cuanto a tasa de supervivencia, con menores efectos secundarios y por tanto repercutiendo de manera positiva en la calidad de vida de los pacientes. A través de esta búsqueda bibliográfica se pretende integrar los aspectos más relevantes y enriquecer el conocimiento acerca de un nuevo método de tratamiento que tiene como objetivo marca un antes y un después en el tratamiento contra el cáncer.

The human organism has the immune system, which acts as the main protective barrier against foreign bodies that pretend to cause some kind of damage. Immunotherapy has as main objective to enhance the immunological activity to deal with cancerous substances in a more effective way, taking into account the different characteristics of the disease. The development of these new therapies is largely due to the numerous studies that are currently being carried out in the different lines of research and that despite being relatively short-lived are already a reality. Immunotherapy is showing promising results in terms of survival rate, with fewer side effects and therefore having a positive impact on the quality of life of patients. Through this bibliographic search, we will try intend to integrate the most relevant aspects and enrich the knowledge about a new treatment method that aims to mark a before and after in the treatment against cancer.
