¿Es la edad un factor predisponente para la elección del tipo de lactancia?

Abstract

Actualmente, diversos organismos internacionales han asegurado que la lactancia materna exclusiva es el mejor método de alimentación para los lactantes, no sólo por los beneficios que ésta les reporta sino porque a su vez, tiene importantes efectos en la salud materna. Sin embargo, muchos niños no son amamantados tal y como se recomienda, debido a múltiples factores. Parece ser que la edad podría ser un factor determinante para esta práctica, por lo que se plantea este estudio observacional de tipo cohortes, cuyo objetivo principal es comprobar la relación existente entre esta variable y el tipo de leche que utilizan las madres para alimentar a sus bebés. Para ello, se estudiará a un grupo de mujeres que hayan dado a luz en el Hospital Universitario de Getafe durante 2015, a partir del cual se seleccionarán dos grupos de madres cuyo punto de inflexión serán los 20 años.

Currently, there are several international organizations which have ensured exclusive breastfeeding as the best method for feeding infants, not only because of the benefits they can take from it, because it also has important effects on mother’s health. However, there are many children who are not breastfed as recommended due to multiple factors. It seems that mother age could be a determining factor for this practice so it’s suggested this observational cohort study, whose main objective is to test the relationship between this variable along with the type of milk which it’s used by mothers to feed their babies. For that purpose, we will study a group of women, who have given birth in the University Hospital of Getafe in 2015. Then, we will separate them in two groups: younger and older than 20.
