Triaje: modelo Manchester. Proyecto educativo

Abstract

La alta demanda de los servicios de urgencias ha promovido la implantación de una herramienta utilizada para la gestión de pacientes, denominada triaje. Existen diversos modelos de triaje, siendo el triaje Manchester uno de los más utilizados. El triaje Manchester se encarga de priorizar la asistencia de los pacientes en función de su gravedad, esta herramienta no es solo utilizada para la gestión de casos sino que es considerada sello de identidad del servicio de urgencias. En este trabajo se abordan las principales características de este modelo de triaje. Por otra parte se dilucida que la competencia del triaje pertenece al profesional de enfermería y con ello la importancia de una formación continuada de este personal y una adecuada formación inicial del personal de enfermería de nueva incorporación a los servicios de urgencias.

The high demand of the services of urgencies has promoted the implantation of a tool used for the patient’s management, named triage. Diverse models of triage exist being the Manchester triage one of the most used. The Manchester triage takes charge prioritizing the assistance of the patients depending on his severity, this tool is not used to for the management of cases, it is considered to be a stamp of identity of the service of urgencies. In this work the principal characteristics of this model of triage are approached. On the other hand there is explained that the competition of the triage belongs to the nursing professionals and with it the importance of a continued formation of this personal and a suitable initial formation for the new incorporation nursing professionals in the services of urgencies.
