Orientación a familiares de pacientes con esquizofrenia

Abstract

La familia de una persona diagnosticada como esquizofrénica suele ser la encargada de su cuidado, por lo tanto, juega un papel fundamental para la evolución y la adherencia al tratamiento del paciente. Esto supone una gran responsabilidad y un gran impacto en el entorno familiar, ya que, a pesar del avance que ha tenido en los últimos años el campo de la Salud Mental, aún se percibe como una enfermedad marcada por el estigma y la exclusión social debido a la falta de información y la carencia de intervenciones familiares. Con este proyecto, se pretende trabajar con los familiares de estos pacientes abarcando todas las áreas posibles de la enfermedad: detección de signos de alarma para evitar posibles recaídas, estrategias de manejo de estrés y enfrentamiento a situaciones de crisis así como reducir la sobrecarga familiar.

It is usually to the family of a schizophrenia diagnosed person to take care of them. Therefore, they play a primary role in the evolution and adhesiveness to the treatment of the patient. This involves great responsibility and impact on the family environment, since, in spite of the progress achieved in the field of Mental Health lately, it is still seen as an illness marked with a stigma and social exclusion, due mainly, to the lack of information and that of family intervention. It is the aim of this project to work with the relatives of these patients, covering all possible areas of the illness, detecting alarm signs to avoid possible relapses, including strategies of stress management and facing of crisis situation as well as reducing family excessive strain.
