Análisis Crítico del discurso de Donald Trump sobre la inmigración

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es hacer un análisis crítico de la narrativa que Donald Trump emplea en sus discursos al hablar sobre los inmigrantes y la inmigración. Para ello, se han escogido tres discursos en los que este tema era el predominante y se han comparado para poder sacar conclusiones pertinentes. Todos los discursos se producen en situaciones diferentes, dos de ellos en Arizona y otro desde el despacho oval de la Casa Blanca. Para comenzar con su análisis se ha optado por una revisión de la teoría sobre el Análisis Crítico del Discurso, empleando a Norman Fairclough y a Teun van Djik como principales autores de referencia. También se hace mención a la teoría de la securitización de la inmigración y a la reproducción del racismo a través de los discursos. Teniendo en cuenta estos hallazgos, se ha procedido a analizar la temática principal, las palabras clave, el estilo y la retórica; y la función apelativa de cada uno de los discursos seleccionados. Finalmente, se han recopilado los aspectos en común y se ha concluido explicando la forma de la que Donald Trump habla sobre los inmigrantes, caracterizándolos y enmarcándolos siempre de la misma manera, siendo esta negativa.

The aim of this paper is to critically analyse the narrative that Donald Trump uses in his speeches when talking about immigrants and immigration. To this end, three speeches in which this theme was the predominant one were chosen and compared in order to draw relevant conclusions. All the speeches took place in different situations, two of them in Arizona and another from the Oval Office of the White House. To begin the analysis, a review of Critical Discourse Analysis theory was chosen, using Norman Fairclough and Teun van Djik as the main authors of reference. Mention is also made of the theory of the securitisation of immigration and the reproduction of racism through discourses. Taking these findings into account, we proceeded to analyse the main themes, key words, style and rhetoric, and the appellative function of each of the selected discourses. Finally, we have compiled the aspects in common and concluded by explaining the way in which Donald Trump talks about immigrants, characterising and framing them in the same negative way.
