Crisis de los refugiados en la Unión Europea

Abstract

La crisis de los refugiados es una situación humanitaria crítica que se ha ido incrementando con el paso de los años. Para entender en que consiste, se lleva a cabo un repaso histórico y conceptual de los principales términos, leyes y tratados que se han desarrollado para gestionar esta situación. Con la llegada masiva de refugiados a Europa, se ha hecho evidente la mala gestión y la ineficiencia del sistema de asilo europeo, que ha dado lugar a diversas crisis tanto entre los miembros de la Unión Europea, como con terceros países. El trabajo hace un análisis profundo de los dos fuertes conflictos que se vivieron entre Turquía y Grecia en los años 2015 y 2020, y analiza la postura de la Unión Europea. Posteriormente, profundiza en los derechos humanos fundamentales de los refugiados y como la mayoría no están siendo respetados. Finaliza con una conclusión y algunos de los retos a los que se enfrenta la Unión Europea para encauzar este problema.

The refugee crisis is a critical humanitarian situation that has been increasing over the years. To understand what it is, a historical and conceptual review of the main terms, laws and treaties that have been developed to manage this situation, is carried out. With the massive arrival of refugees in Europe, it has become evident the mismanagement and inefficiency of the European asylum system, which has led to various crises, both among members of the European Union and with third countries. The paper makes an in-depth analysis of the two strong conflicts experienced between Turkey and Greece in 2015 and 2020, and it analyzes the position of the European Union. Subsequently, it delves into the fundamental human rights of refugees and how most of them are not being respected. It ends with a conclusion and some of the challenges that the European Union is facing to manage this situation.
