CUANDO LAS DEMOCRACIAS FALLAN. EL CASO DE ESTUDIO DE LA FEDERACIÓN RUSA

Abstract

La democracia es considerada como el sistema político por excelencia, valorado en el mundo entero. Sin embargo, parece que algunos estados no terminan de adoptar este sistema por completo. Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado parte de la hipótesis de que la razón puede encontrarse en las características particulares de las sociedades de dichos estados. Para estudiar esta hipótesis se ha decidido analizar el caso de la Federación Rusa, considerada como uno de los países de referencia en cuanto a sistemas democráticos degradados. De esta manera, se lleva a cabo un análisis histórico del desarrollo de Rusia como Estado, desde sus orígenes en el siglo X hasta la actualidad, así como del pueblo ruso, sus características principales y la geopolítica de la nación. Posteriormente se analiza el sistema de gobierno ruso actual y su política exterior. Así, se identifican las características que han conducido a la dificultad de Rusia para adoptar un sistema democrático compatible con las características determinadas por occidente. Los recientes cambios que se han producido en la esfera rusa dejan la puerta abierta a cambios considerables en un futuro próximo.

Democracy is considered the political system par excellence, highly valued throughout the world. However, it seems that some states are not able or not willing to fully adopt this system. This thesis is based on the hypothesis that the reason for this may be found in the particular characteristics of the societies of these states. In order to study this, it has been decided to use the case of the Russian Federation, considered as one of the reference countries in terms of degraded democratic systems. Thus, a historical analysis of the development of Russia as a state, from its origins in the 10th century to the present day, as well as of the Russian people, its main characteristics and the geopolitics of the nation, is carried out. Subsequently, the current Russian system of government and its foreign policy are analyzed. Thus, the characteristics that have led to Russia's difficulty in adopting a democratic system compatible with the characteristics determined by the West are identified. The recent changes that have taken place in the Russian sphere leave the door open for considerable changes in the near future.
