La reconquista del nuevo mundo : análisis de la estrategia del Banco Santander en su expansión latinoamericana

Abstract

En este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se realiza un análisis del proceso de expansión llevado a cabo por el Banco Santander entre los últimos años del Siglo XX y los primeros del Siglo XXI en los países de América Latina. Se tendrán en cuenta las razones por las que se inicia una expansión de este nivel, se describirán las distintas operaciones junto a su contexto en términos económicos y estratégicos, y finalmente se hará un desarrollo de los principales puntos de la estrategia, con el fin de comprender si realmente estas inversiones consiguieron tener una rentabilidad suficiente y un resultado estratégico exitoso.

This final dissertation analyzes the expansion process carried out by Banco Santander between the last years of the 20th Century and the first years of the 21st Century in Latin American countries. The reasons why an expansion of this level was initiated will be considered, the different operations will be described together with their context in economic and strategic terms, and finally, the main points of the strategy will be explained in order to understand if these investments really achieved a sufficient profitability and a successful strategic result.
