Abstract

EEUU ha sido durante los últimos años escenario de protestas sociales, abusos policiales, racismo, sexismo y machismo; en otras palabras, ha sido el espacio a través del cual más fuertemente se han vivido y afectado los movimientos sociales actuales.

Movimientos como el Black Lives Matter, están fuertemente enraizados en la sociedad hasta el punto de desestabilizar lo que hasta ahora conocíamos como el orden social. Sus efectos pueden palparse en la sociedad actual, en poco tiempo han conseguido modificar la mentalidad de millones de habitantes alrededor de todo el mundo.

En este TFG trataré primero de aclarar qué es un movimiento social y de mostrar cómo el movimiento social Black Lives Matter está reformando y afectando, a la vez, a la política americana sin precedentes. De la misma manera mostraré cómo los candidatos a la presidencia de 2020 reaccionaron ante este movimiento y cómo trataron de utilizarlo a su favor en la carrera electoral. Me centraré esencialmente en los candidatos finalistas; el republicano, Trump y el demócrata, Biden. Haciendo más hincapié en el expresidente.

The US has been the scene of social protests, police abuses, racism, sexism and machismo during the last few years; in other words, it has been the space through which current social movements have been most strongly experienced and affected.

Movements such as Black Lives Matter, are strongly rooted in society to the point of destabilizing what we knew until now as the social order. Their effects can be felt in today's society, in a short time they have managed to change the mentality of millions of people around the world.

In this dissertation I will first try to clarify what a social movement is and to show how the Black Lives Matter social movement is both reshaping and affecting American politics in an unprecedented way. In the same way I will show how the 2020 presidential candidates reacted to this movement and how they tried to use it to their advantage in the election race. I will essentially focus on the finalist candidates; the Republican, Trump and the Democrat, Biden. With more emphasis on the former president.
