El impacto psicosocial del trastorno mental en la familia: un proyecto observacional

Abstract

El proyecto de investigación que se expone a continuación aborda un tema psicosocial que en Enfermería hay que tener presente, el cual es la carga emocional que sufre la familia ante la aparición de una enfermedad. En este caso se elabora un proyecto en el que la enfermedad consiste en ser un trastorno mental, y la implicación de los diferentes miembros que componen una familia y no solo al cuidador principal. Por ello, el objetivo de este proyecto es describir el impacto psicosocial que sufre cada miembro de la familia y la carga emocional por la nueva situación en la familia. Para desarrollar el proyecto se ha hecho uso de un diseño de investigación observacional, descriptivo correlacionado y transversal, con una muestra de población que incluya a familias con un miembro que sufra algún trastorno mental y que dicha familia sea compuesta por al menos un hermano/a además de los tutores principales. Este tema es importante para la Enfermería debido a la implicación que tiene en esta profesión, además de velar por el cuidado íntegro del paciente, debe velar por el cuidado integral de la familia. El poder averiguar cómo afecta a las familias y la intervención que tienen en la persona afectada, va a provocar que se tome conciencia sobre la situación y como se puede actuar ante esta situación.

The observational investigation project that is displayed, deals with a psychosocial issue, which Nursing must consider. This issue has to be with the emotional burden that families suffer with a new illness appearance. In this case, an observational investigation project is elaborated, in which the illness that appears is a mental disorder. The project also includes the implication that the different family members have. The aim of the project is to describe the psychosocial impact that every member of the family suffers and the emotional burden that this situation generates to the family. For the development of the project it has been used a descriptive, correlated and cross-sectional study, in which the sample used are those groups of people that includes families with one of the members suffering a mental disorder. The family group must be composed at least, by one sibling beside the main parents. However, this issue is important for Nursing, due to the involvement of this profession. In addition of the comprehensive care to the patient that the nurses give, the family needs a comprehensive care too. The possibility of knowing how this situation affects the families and the participation they have, would provoke how nurses can act in these cases.
