La diferenciación del self y su relación con la regulación emocional y el ajuste marital

Abstract

En el presente estudio se analiza la relación entre la diferenciación del self, la regulación emocional y el ajuste marital. Además, examinó la capacidad predictiva de la diferenciación y la regulación emocional respecto al ajuste marital. Sumado a la evaluación de las diferencias de la diferenciación del self, la regulación emocional y el ajuste en función del sexo y del nivel socioeconómico. La muestra está formada por 127 sujetos, de los cuales, 96 eran mujeres y 31 , hombres, de edades comprendidas entre los 20 y los 70 años. Los instrumentos utilizados en el estudio fueron tres: la Escala de Diferenciación del Self (EDS), Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) y la Escala de Ajuste Diádico (DAS). De acuerdo con la teoría de Bowen, los resultados mostraron relaciones entre diferenciación del self y las dimensiones de la regulación emocional. También se observaron relaciones directas entre la diferenciación del self y un adecuado ajuste marital. Además, mostraron una relación inversa entre la duración de la relación y la satisfacción y ajuste marital. Por otro lado, se demostró que la diferenciación del self, concretamente del corte emocional y la reactividad emocional, predicen en un 26% el ajuste marital. Por último, se encontraron puntuaciones más altas de las mujeres en reactividad emocional y los hombres en supresión emocional. Se discuten los resultados y se plantean futuras líneas de investigación.

The present study analyzes the relationship between differentiation of self, emotional regulation, and marital adjustment. In addition, he examined the predictive capacity of differentiation and emotional regulation regarding marital adjustment. According to Bowen's theory, the results showed relationships between differentiation of self and the dimensions of emotional regulation. Direct relationsh.ips between self differe ntiation and proper marital adjustment are also observed. Furthermore, they showeded an inverse relationship between the duration of relationship and satisfaction and the marital adjustment. On the other hand, it was shown that the differentiation of self, specifically the emotional cut and emotional reactivity, predicted marital adjustment by 26%. Finally, higher scores were found for women in emotional reactivity and men in emotional suppression. The results are discussed and future Iines of research are proposed.
