Resumen :
Total Transfer Capability (TTC) is defined as the amount of electric power that can be transferred between two interconnected transmission networks under some established security system conditions such as maximum power flow through branches. It has important implications for both technical and economic analyses. The main technique used to calculate TTC is the Continuation Power Flow (CPF) technique. CPF computes progressive power flow solutions as the energy transferred increases from zero to full capability. CPF consists of two main steps, predictor and corrector. Tangent approximations generally work properly as predictor step. However, under certain conditions, power flows through branches present a highly nonlinearbehavior. This paper presents a novel predictor for TTC that solves this issue by using a parabolic predictor instead of a tangent approximation and demonstrates it on the IEEE 39 buses test network.
