Análisis de la transformación de las capacidades militares talibán tras la retirada americana y su efecto en la región

Abstract

Este trabajo consiste en hacer un análisis sobre las capacidades militares de los talibanes previas a la retirada de la coalición en agosto de 2021 y como el arsenal dejado atrás por la coalición, en especial Estados Unidos, puede modificar sus capacidades militares, modernizarlas y sobre todo ver el impacto que puede tener en la región. Nos enfocaremos en los siguientes objetivos para ello: Analizar brevemente la retirada de la OTAN de Afganistán sus razones, causas y efectos. Intentar crear una imagen del arsenal talibán antes de la retirada para entender en qué situación se encontraba antes de la retirada y con que contaban. A continuación, entender el impacto que la precipitada retirada de las fuerzas armadas americana producirá sobre las capacidades militares del régimen talibán, al adquirir éstos un ingente arsenal. Por último, cuál puede ser el impacto de esta modernización del arsenal talibán en la región. Con estos objetivos intentaremos responder a la siguiente hipótesis: Demostrar que la gran cantidad de armamento abandonado por las fuerzas americanas supone una ventana de oportunidad para el régimen talibán para por un lado modernizar sus muy precarias fuerzas armadas y al mismo tiempo, adquirir nuevas capacidades, que reforzaran su posición militar tanto a nivel interno, ante posibles amenazas domésticas, como el Estado Islámico, como de cara al exterior, reforzando su posición geopolítica regional y adquiriendo un nuevo status regional

This work consists of an analysis of the Taliban's military capabilities prior to the withdrawal of the coalition in August 2021 and how the arsenal left behind by the coalition, especially the United States, can modify its military capabilities, modernize them and, above all, see the impact it can have on the region. We will focus on the following objectives to do so: To briefly analyze NATO's withdrawal from Afghanistan, its reasons, causes and effects. To try to create a picture of the Taliban arsenal before the withdrawal to understand the situation before the withdrawal and what they were counting on. Next, understand the impact that the precipitous withdrawal of the US military will have on the Taliban regime's military capabilities as they acquire a huge arsenal. Finally, what impact this modernization of the Taliban arsenal might have on the region. With these objectives in mind, we will try to answer the following hypothesis: to demonstrate that the large amount of weapons abandoned by the American forces represents a window of opportunity for the Taliban regime to modernize its very precarious armed forces and, at the same time, to acquire new capabilities that will strengthen its military position both internally, in the face of possible domestic threats such as the Islamic State, and externally, reinforcing its regional geopolitical position and acquiring a new regional status.
