La economía política de las criptodivisas y su papel en la distribución de poder en el marco internacional

Abstract

En el siguiente trabajo analizaremos las criptodivisas como herramienta para la reconfiguración del poder de los Estados en el marco internacional. Considerando la relevancia histórica de la divisa en las Relaciones Internacionales, estudiaremos cómo la criptomoneda puede amenazar la actual hegemonía del Dólar y, con ello, el título estadounidense de superpotencia mundial. Para ello, comenzaremos explicando el concepto de moneda internacional y su evolución histórica, profundizando tras ello en las criptodivisas, analizando sus orígenes y el funcionamiento de su tecnología Blockchain. Con los conceptos claros, estudiaremos la viabilidad de las criptodivisas como nuevo orden monetario internacional, comparándolas con el papel, en la actualidad, del Dólar estadounidense como moneda internacional y enfocándonos en cómo este fenómeno puede amenazar la actual configuración de poder de los Estados.

In the following work we will analyse cryptocurrencies as a tool for the reconfiguration of the power of States in the international framework. Considering the historical relevance of the currency in international relations, we will study how cryptocurrency can threaten the current hegemony of the dollar and, with it, the American title of world superpower. To do this, we will begin by explaining the concept of international currency and its historical evolution, delving after that into cryptocurrencies, analyzing its origins and the operation of its Blockchain technology. With the concepts clear, we will study the viability of cryptocurrencies as a new international monetary order, comparing them with the current role of the US dollar as an international currency and focusing on how this phenomenon can threaten the current power configuration of States.
