La eficacia de las ayudas en África Subsahariana

Abstract

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado tiene como objetivo analizar la eficiencia de las ayudas al desarrollo que se ofrecen a los países de África Subsahariana. Se comienza analizando la situación en la que se encuentra esta región respecto al desarrollo y mostrando el contexto en el que se hallan estos países, que se encuentran entre los más pobres del mundo. Seguidamente se expone un marco teórico para aclarar los conceptos relacionados con la ayuda al desarrollo. Después se destacan las razones por las que estas ayudas son más bien un obstáculo para su desarrollo y se analiza el caso de las donaciones de ropa en esta área geográfica, desde sus orígenes hasta su paradero, los efectos secundarios de estas donaciones y su impacto sobre el desarrollo. Se contrastan dos políticas económicas opuestas frente a los problemas que han derivado de la donación de vestimentas que llegan al continente africano: por un lado, la liberalización del comercio y por otro la industrialización por sustitución de importación o Infant Industries.

The aim of this Final Degree Project is to analyse the efficiency of the development aid offered to the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa. It begins by analysing the situation of this region with respect to development and showing the context in which these countries, which are among the poorest in the world, find themselves. This is followed by a theoretical framework to clarify the concepts related to development aid. It then highlights the reasons why this aid is more of an obstacle to development and analyses the case of clothing donations in this geographical area, from their origins to their whereabouts, the side effects of these donations and their impact on development. Two opposing economic policies are contrasted in the face of the problems that have resulted from clothing donations arriving on the African continent: on the one hand, trade liberalisation and, on the other, industrialisation by import substitution or Infant Industries.
