Abstract

En los últimos años se ha despertado un profundo interés por el Océano Ártico a consecuencia del deshielo generado por el cambio climático. La apertura de nuevas rutas comerciales, el descubrimiento de yacimientos energéticos o su posible utilización como punto estratégico en caso de conflicto, ha llamado la atención de expertos de todo tipo. El potencial de esta región ha venido acompañado desde comienzos de la Guerra Fría de una mayor presencia militar, apuntando a un posible conflicto en un futuro no tan lejano. El siguiente trabajo de investigación analizará precisamente esa posible escalada militar, estudiando la relación existente entre el nivel de militarización en la región y su importancia a nivel económico y estratégico

In the last few years, a deep interest in the Arctic Ocean has been aroused as a result of the melting caused by climate change. The opening of new trade routes, the discovery of energy deposits or their possible use as a strategic point in the event of a conflict, has drawn the attention of experts of all kinds. The potential of this region has been accompanied since the beginning of the Cold War by a greater military presence, pointing to a possible conflict in the not-so-distant future. The following research will precisely analyze this possible military escalation, studying the relationship between the level of militarization in the region and its importance at an economic and strategic level.
