El contract cheating en la educación superior : percepciones de los profesores universitarios

Abstract

Este estudio presenta los resultados de un proyecto de investigación que explora la percepción de los profesores sobre el contract cheating en la Universidad Pontificia Comillas. El contract cheating tiene lugar cuando un tercero produce o completa un trabajo académico para un estudiante, y éste lo presenta como propio. El estudiante puede tener conexiones personales con el tercero, o puede ser una persona ajena al alumno. Además, puede consistir tanto en una transacción monetaria como en un servicio gratuito. El personal docente es fundamental para prevenir y gestionar esta forma emergente de copiar, pero se han realizado pocas investigaciones basadas en pruebas para informar sobre el punto de vista de los profesores universitarios sobre el contract cheating. En este estudio se investigaron las experiencias y actitudes del profesorado con respecto al contract cheating, así como sus opiniones sobre los factores individuales, contextuales y organizativos que dificultan o favorecen los esfuerzos para minimizarlo. Los resultados indican que el contract cheating podría abordarse mejorando los aspectos clave del entorno de enseñanza y aprendizaje, incluida la relación profesor-estudiante.

This study presents the findings of a research project that explores professors' perception of contract cheating at Comillas Pontifical University. Contract cheating occurs when a third party produces or completes academic work for a student, and the student presents it as his or her own. The student may have personal connections with the third party, or it may be a person unrelated with the student. In addition, it can consist of either a monetary transaction or a free service. Professors are critical in preventing and managing this emerging form of cheating, but little evidence-based research has been conducted to inform the views of university professors regarding contract cheating. This study investigated teachers' experiences and attitudes toward contract cheating, as well as their views on the individual, contextual, and organizational factors that hinder or encourage efforts to minimize it. The results indicate that contract cheating could be addressed by improving key aspects of the teaching and learning environment, including the teacher-student relationship.
