Encarcelamiento, reincidencia y empleo

Abstract

El presente trabajo de fin de grado trata de profundizar sobre la relación economía-crimen. Las investigaciones dedicadas a la concreta relación entre el empleo y el mercado de trabajo con en su mayoría teórico - prácticas y concluyen la necesidad de seguir estudiando esta cuestión. Es por ello por lo que el concreto su objetivo está orientado a averiguar si existe o no influencia entre los encarcelamientos y la tasa de desempleo, en la consideración de que el mercado de trabajo tiene importante incidencia en la bonanza de la economía en general. Para analizar si estos dos aspectos están o no correlacionados se ha realizado un estudio empírico no experimental utilizando datos de ingresos en prisión y tasa de población desempleada de España entre 2013 y 2020-21. Se ha utilizado la técnica estadística de regresión para averiguar la relación estadística existente entre el número de ingresos en prisión y la tasa de desempleo, así como la dirección de esta relación, si se declarase existente. Este estudio llega a la conclusión de que, si bien los efectos del incremento de la población penitenciaria no resultan significativos para explicar las variaciones en la tasa de desempleo en España durante el periodo de estudio, sí que resulta de interés el estudio la relación entre ambas.

This thesis aims to deepen the relationship between the economy and crime in depth. The researches dedicated to the specific relationship between employment and the labor market are mostly theoretical-practical and conclude the need for further study of this issue. For this reason, the specific objective is to find out whether or not there is an influence between incarceration and the unemployment rate, considering that the labor market has an important impact on the overall economic boom. To analyze whether these two aspects are correlated, a non-experimental empirical study has been carried out using data on prison admissions and unemployed population rate for Spain between 2013 and 2020-21. The statistical technique of regression has been used to find out the existing statistical relationship between the number of prison admissions and the unemployment rate, as well as the direction of this relationship, if it were declared to exist. This study concludes that, although the effects of the increase in the prison population are not significant in explaining the variations in the unemployment rate in Spain during the study period, it is of interest to study the relationship between both.
