Methodology for assessing social vulnerability to poverty based on bibliometrics and and Analytic Hierarchy Process

Abstract

Actualmente dentro del mundo desarrollado hay cada vez más desigualdades, que favorecen la aparición de brechas sociales, poniendo en riesgo la integridad del desarrollo de los territorios donde se producen. Esto ha llevado a que aumente la vulnerabilidad social a la pobreza. Existen una gran variedad de estudios que giran en torno a distintos factores que condicionan la vulnerabilidad social a la pobreza en las regiones donde se da. Muchos de estos factores se pueden englobar en categorías o factores principales. Sin embargo, no hay muchos trabajos que tengan todos estos factores intrínsecos en cuenta e intenten ponerlos en relación. Con el objetivo de lograr esto, se han investigado aquellos factores que llevan a una mayor vulnerabilidad social a la pobreza y para ponerlos en relación se ha elaborado un código que permite aplicar la metodología AHP. Después, se ha aplicado a un caso práctico para analizar los resultados. El caso en concreto es el de las Comunidades Autónomas y Ciudades Autónomas de España, y se ha buscado su orden de vulnerabilidad según cada factor principal y de manera global. Tanto del trabajo en sí como de su aplicación al caso de estudio han llevado a ciertos resultados y conclusiones.

In today's developed world there are increasing inequalities, which favour the emergence of social gaps, putting at risk the integrity of the development of the territories where they occur. This has led to an increase in social vulnerability to poverty. There is a wide variety of studies that focus on the different factors that condition social vulnerability to poverty in the regions where it occurs. Many of these factors can be grouped into categories or main factors. However, there is not much work that takes all of these intrinsic factors into account and attempts to link them together. In order to do this, the factors that lead to greater social vulnerability to poverty have been investigated and a code has been developed to compare them using the AHP methodology. This has then been applied to a case study to analyse the results. The specific case is that of the Autonomous Communities and Autonomous Cities of Spain, and the order of vulnerability has been sought according to each main factor and in a global manner. Both the work itself and its application to the case study have led to certain results and conclusions as well as possible future developments to further evolve the project.
