El amor: una mirada desde la cultura

Abstract

Se ha discutido la cuestión de la universalidad del amor romántico llegando a la idea de que éste difiere culturalmente en la forma en que se manifiesta. Partiendo de la tipología amorosa de Lee (1973) y de las posteriores investigaciones y elaboración de la Escala de Actitudes sobre el Amor por Hendrick y Hendrick (1986), este trabajo se ha centrado en analizar la variabilidad cultural del amor en base a estudios que han incluido entre sus variables dimensiones culturales como las referentes a los niveles de individualismo/colectivismo y masculinidad/feminidad presentes en distintas sociedades. Para ello, previamente, se han abordado la conceptualización y el desarrollo de dichas dimensiones, llevadas a cabo por Hofstede et al. (2010). Por último, se ha prestado atención a cómo España se sitúa respecto al tema aquí tratado.

The question of the universality of romantic love has been discussed, leading to the idea that it differs culturally in the way it manifests itself. Starting from Lee's (1973) typology of love and the subsequent research and elaboration of the Love Attitudes Scale by Hendrick and Hendrick (1986), this paper has focused on analyzing the cultural variability of love based on studies that have included among their variables cultural dimensions such as those referring to the levels of individualism/collectivism and masculinity/femininity present in different societies. To this end, the conceptualization and development of these dimensions, carried out by Hofstede et al. (2010), have been previously addressed. Finally, attention has been paid to how Spain is positioned according to the topic discussed here.
