El duelo por pérdidas múltiples y el papel del Trabajo Social. La catástrofe del volcán de La Palma

Abstract

La erupción del volcán Cumbre Vieja en la isla de La Palma ha tenido como resultado pérdidas tanto materiales como inmateriales que han dejado a parte de sus habitantes sin su espacio de vida ni su memoria histórica. El presente trabajo pretende reflejar el contexto de lo vivido como consecuencia de este fenómeno. Desde que se alertó del inicio de la erupción, conllevando la toma de decisiones complejas por parte de la población tales como el abandono de sus casas además de situaciones por las que han pasado a lo largo de este tiempo y procesos tales como el duelo por las pérdidas sufridas, así como la gestión del mismo. Cabe destacar la importancia que han tenido los profesionales que han estado implicados a lo largo de todo este tiempo. Es por eso por lo que este trabajo se centra también en la visibilización del papel que han llevado a cabo, y las repercusiones positivas que ha conllevado. En concreto, la figura del Trabajador Social, especialmente implicada en la adquisición y recuperación de recursos de la población afectada, así como el apoyo emocional para la recuperación de las víctimas de la erupción.

The eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma has resulted in both material and immaterial losses that have left part of its inhabitants without their living space and historical memory. This paper intends to reflect the context of what has been experienced as a consequence of this phenomenon. Since the warning of the beginning of the eruption, leading to complex decisions by the population such as the abandonment of their homes as well as situations they have gone through during this time and processes such as mourning for the losses suffered, as well as the management of the same. It is worth highlighting the importance of the professionals who have been involved throughout this time. That is why this work also focuses on the visibility of the role they have played, and the positive repercussions that this has entailed. In particular, the figure of the Social Worker, especially involved in the acquisition and recovery of resources of the affected population, as well as the emotional support for the recovery of the victims of the eruption.
