Análisis crítico del discurso de Alan García Pérez ante la ONU en 1985

Abstract

Alan García Pérez asume el cargo de presidente del Perú en 1985, a mediados de una década económicamente difícil para el país. Es en este contexto en el que el expresidente del Perú da un discurso en la 40ta Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas. En este trabajo se busca determinar si el discurso elegido cumple con las características del discurso populista. A lo largo del análisis de este discurso podremos ver cuáles son las tendencias en el uso de las ocho características seleccionadas. Además de ver la incidencia de las características, también se buscará brindar una serie de recomendaciones para intérpretes de conferencia que se enfrenten a este tipo de discursos.

Alan García Pérez became president of Peru in 1985, in the middle of an economically difficult decade for the country. It is in this context that the former president of Peru gives a speech at the 40th General Assembly of the United Nations. This paper seeks to determine whether the speech chosen meets the characteristics of populist discourse. Throughout the analysis of this speech, we will be able to see what the trends are in the use of the eight selected characteristics. In addition to looking at the incidence of the characteristics, we will also seek to provide a series of recommendations for conference interpreters who face this type of discourse.
