Analysis of the Iberdrola – PNM Resources Deal and its Impact on the Global EnergyIndustry.

Abstract

El perímetro de este proyecto ha sido el análisis exclusivamente estratégico y financiero de la transacción de compra de PNM Resources por parte de Iberdrola, a través de su filial estadounidense Avangrid. El análisis se ha basado en valoraciones de PNM (el target), obtenidas usando distintos métodos y obteniendo una estimación final a partir de los distintos resultados obtenidos. A partir de los mismos, se puede comparar lo dispuesto en la oferta con el valor de mercado y el valor intrínseco calculado, para así concluir si la transacción es financieramente coherente para Iberdrola o no.

The perimeter of this project has been exclusively the strategic and financial analysis of the PNM Resources acquisition transaction by Iberdrola, through its US subsidiary Avangrid. The analysis has been based on valuations of PNM (the target), obtained using different methods, and obtaining a final estimate from the different results obtained. From these results, it is possible to compare the offer with the market value and the calculated intrinsic value, in order to conclude whether the transaction is financially coherent for Iberdrola or not.
