La relación entre la alianza terapéutica, la diferenciación del self, el apego adulto y los años de experiencia de los terapeutas

Abstract

En el presente estudio se analiza la relación entre la alianza terapéutica, la diferenciación del self, el apego adulto y los años de experiencia de los terapeutas. La muestra está compuesta por 30 terapeutas de edades comprendidas entre los 23 y los 73 años, de los cuales 25 son mujeres, 23 son terapeutas con Máster en Psicología General Sanitaria o un postgrado de especialización y 25 atienden casos individuales. Todos ellos contestaron la Differentiation of Self Scale-Revised, el System of Observing Family Therapy Alliances-Self report, y la Experiences in Close Relationships Scale-Spanish. Los resultados no mostraron diferencias entre hombres y mujeres en las variables del estudio. Sin embargo, revelaron que la alianza terapéutica estaba relacionada de forma positiva con la posición del Yo y de forma negativa con la ansiedad en las relaciones de apego. Asimismo, se encontró que la diferenciación del self estaba relacionada negativamente con la ansiedad y la evitación. Por otro lado, se encontró que los años de experiencia estaban relacionados positivamente con la alianza terapéutica. Por último, se encontró que la reactividad emocional y la posición del Yo, la ansiedad en las relaciones de apego y los años de experiencia predecían la alianza terapéutica de los terapeutas. Se discuten las implicaciones para la práctica clínica y la relevancia de los resultados, y se sugieren futuras líneas de investigación.

In the present research the association between the working alliance, the self differentiation, the adult attachment and the years of experience of the therapists is analysed. The sample is formed by 30 therapists between the ages of 23 and 73, of whom 25 are women, 23 are therapists with a master’s degree in General Health Psychology or a specialisation postgraduate degree, and 25 deal with individual cases. All of them answered the Differentiation of Self Scale-Revised, the System of Observing Family Therapy Alliances-Self report, and the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale-Spanish. The results showed no differences between men and women in the study variables. However, they revealed that the working alliance was positively related to the I position and negatively related to anxiety in attachment relationships. Likewise, self differentiation was found to be negatively related to anxiety and avoidance. On another note, years of experience were found to be positively related to the working alliance. Lastly, the emotional reactivity and the I position, the anxiety in attachment relationships, and the years of experience were found to predict the therapist’s therapeutic alliance. The implications for clinical practice and the relevance of the results are discussed, as well as future lines of research are suggested.
