LA TRANSICIÓN A LA SOSTENIBILIDAD DE LAS CADENAS DE VALOR AGROALIMENTARIAS EN ESPAÑA; UN NUEVO MODELO DE COOPERACIÓN. López-Tello Blazquez, Luisa

Abstract

El presente trabajo realiza un análisis crítico sobre el sistema agroalimentario en España y la necesidad de estudio que existe para someterlo a una transición que lo convierta en un modelo más justo y sostenible. Tras un estudio profundo de este sistema sociotécnico se manifiestan una serie de grietas dentro de las cadenas de valor agroalimentarias que impiden una transición sostenible del sistema. Cómo solución se propone el fenómeno de la cooperación; en especial el trabajo se centra en dos modos de asociación relevantes en el sistema agrario español que han paliado con éxito muchos de los problemas mencionados a lo largo del trabajo. No obstante, el trabajo estudia en profundidad el caso de una asociación agraria; la Asociación de Productores de Pistachos de Albacete, como un nuevo modelo de cooperación mixta que pretende acortar la cadena de valor del cultivo del pistacho con el objetivo de ofrecer un modelo de cultivo agroalimentario más justo y sostenible. De esta forma, presenta el modo por el que incorporan en el funcionamiento de la asociación un método alternativo al de las cooperativas mencionadas como estrategia de lucha frente a las barreras existentes que impiden al sector agroalimentario devenir en un sector más justo y sostenible.

This paper provides a critical analysis of the agri-food system in Spain and the need for it to undergo a transition towards a fairer and more sustainable model. An in-depth study of this socio-technical system reveals a series of cracks within the agri-food value chains that prevent a sustainable transition of the system. As a solution, the phenomenon of cooperation is proposed; in particular, the paper focuses on two relevant forms of association in the Spanish agricultural system that have successfully alleviated many of the problems mentioned throughout the paper. However, the paper provides an in-depth study of an agricultural association, the Association of Pistachio Producers of Albacete, as a new model of mixed cooperation that aims to shorten the value chain of pistachio cultivation with the objective of offering a fairer and more sustainable model of agri-food cultivation. In this way, they present the way in which they incorporate an alternative method into the functioning of the association to that of the previously mentioned cooperatives as a strategy to fight against the existing barriers that prevent the agri-food sector from becoming a fairer and more sustainable sector.
