The survival of Christianity in Communist China.

Abstract

El régimen comunista, en su deseo de establecer un nuevo orden social, abolió las tradiciones y creencias religiosas. Los cristianos fueron perseguidos, así como los creyentes de otras religiones, y tuvieron que enfrentar la represión. Aunque el comunismo como sistema político de China ha permanecido sin cambios durante décadas, el cristianismo no solo ha sobrevivido a lo largo de estos años de restricción religiosa, sino que se ha revitalizado y florecido, fortaleciéndose en los últimos años. Ciertamente, la supervivencia de una religión contra un régimen político ateo plantea preguntas interesantes y convincentes que merecen un análisis profundo.

The Communist rule in its desire to establish a new social order, abolished religious traditions and beliefs. Christians were persecuted, as well as believers of other religions, and had to face repression. Though Communism as China's political system has remained unchanged during decades, Christianity not only has survived throughout these years of religious restraint but it has revived and flourished, getting stronger these recent years. Certainly, the survival of a religion against an atheist political regime raises compelling and interesting questions worth a deep analysis.
