Decrecimiento: filosofía y economía de una alternativa

Abstract

El presente trabajo pretende mostrar las virtudes y defectos del decrecentismo en tanto que movimiento político, económico y social, en un contexto de cambio climático. Se estudian tanto sus postulados políticos, algunas de sus propuestas socioeconómicas planteadas por los decrecentistas y las teorías en torno al estado y las relaciones internacionales planteadas por el decrecentismo. Se atiende a algunos casos existentes, pero se mantiene un enfoque principalmente teórico durante el trabajo. En un primer momento, se estudia el decrecentismo en el contexto de otras teorías de transición ecológica, mostrando las principales propuestas existentes a día de hoy. En el segundo capítulo, se estudian sus principales críticas a la economía capitalista y algunas contrapropuestas planteadas así como el caso de los bancos de tiempo en Helsinki, cómo ejemplo de una iniciativa real y efectiva. En el tercer capítulo se estudia el decrecentismo desde un punto de vista más filosófico y político atendiendo a la formación de una teoría del estado puramente decrecentista, los obstáculos para ello y un posible enfoque desde las Relaciones Internacionales, tratando de aportar una humilde visión a cómo puede seguirse construyendo ese aspecto de la teoría decrecentista. Finalmente, se hacen algunas observaciones generales acerca del movimiento y teoría decrecentistas.

This essay aims at portraying the virtues and issues as a political, economical and social movement, in the context of climate change. We study its political positions, some of its socieconomic proposals as proposed by degrowth theorists and the theories around the state and international relations. We will delve into some of the existing cases, but the focus remais essentially theoretical throughout the work. In the first chapter, we study degrowth in the context of other ecological transition theories, showing the main existing positions on the issue. In the second chapter, we look into degrowth's critiques of the capitalist economy and its counter-proposals, as well as the case of time banks in Helsinki, as an example of a real and effective initiative. The third chapter focuses on degrowth's philosophical and political conceptions, as well as the possibility of degrowth theory of the State, the obstacles to it and a possible IR approach, trying to humbly hypothesize about how this aspect of degrowth can keep advancing. Finally, we make some remarks about degrowth as a movement and as a theory.
