Midcat : causas del fracaso y posibles alternativas

Abstract

La crisis energética iniciada en 2021 ha vuelto a impulsar el proyecto Midcat, un gasoducto entre España y Francia, que, desde sus inicios en 2007 ha sufrido varios intentos no satisfactorios de puesta en marcha. Finalmente, en octubre de 2022 fue rechazado definitivamente, generando una gran polémica dentro de Europa, ya que algunos países no entendían cómo un proyecto que podría constituir una solución a los problemas de acceso a suministro de gas en Europa fracasó tan estrepitosamente. De esta manera, el presente trabajo tiene como finalidad investigar las causas que soportan el rechazo definitivo del proyecto, así como los argumentos a favor del mismo y sus posibles alternativas, mediante el estudio de la postura de sus principales defensores y detractores.

The energy crisis that began in 2021 has given new impetus to the Midcat project, a gas pipeline between Spain and France, which, since its inception in 2007, has undergone several unsatisfactory attempts at implementation. Finally, in October 2022 it was definitively rejected, generating great controversy within Europe, as some countries did not understand how a project that could constitute a solution to the problems of access to gas supply in Europe failed so miserably. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the causes behind the definitive rejection of the project, as well as the arguments in favor of it and its possible alternatives, by studying the position of its main defenders and detractors.
