Los fundamentos del nacionalismo. El caso de Cataluña.

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es hacer un estudio donde se explique el nacionalismo, partiendo del concepto de “nación” y de su ideologización; para llegar a los elementos comunes de los distintos movimientos nacionalistas, los cuales se enfrentan o contraponen a la idea de libertad como autonomía de la voluntad individual de las democracias liberales. Para ello, nos centraremos en grandes autores alemanes cuyas ideas se consideran el germen de la idea de nación y, por ende, de su deriva política (en concreto, se analizarán las aportaciones de, Hegel, Kelsen y Schmitt); así como en autores españoles (Cánovas del Castillo y Ortega y Gasset), por cercanía (y relación con nuestro caso específico). Tras dejar establecido el marco general, se profundizará en un supuesto particular: el nacionalismo catalán.

The objective of this paper is to make a study in which nationalism is explained, beginning with the explanation of the concept of “nation” and its ideologization; in order to reach the common elements of the different nationalist movements, which features are opposed to the ones that define what a liberal democracy is. So as to fulfil this purpose, the ideas of several German authors, which are considered to be at the born of the idea of nation and its political drift will be analyzed (concretely, the contributions of Schmitt, Hegel and Kelson). Furthermore, due to the geographical proximity and close relation to our study case, the contributions of certain Spanish authors (Cánovas del Castillo and Ortega y Gasset) will also be developed. Once the general framework is explained, the focus will be put on a particular case: the Catalan nationalism.
