Proyecto educativo: Enseñanza de cuidados dermatológicos a padres cuyos hijos padecen Epidermólisis Bullosa

Abstract

La epidermólisis bullosa es una enfermedad que provoca una extrema fragilidad de la piel, ocasionando lesiones traumáticas y aparición de ampollas. Gracias a la gran variedad de apósitos que existen, se ha logrado mejorar el estado de las lesiones dermatológicas provocadas por la enfermedad y a reducir las infecciones. A pesar de que existen una gran variedad de apósitos para el tratamiento de estas lesiones, su uso no es el adecuado, por ello una de las principales necesidades, es instruir a las familias de estos pacientes sobre el uso de estos materiales, ya que la mayoría presenta un gran desconocimiento, y esto puede repercutir negativamente en la salud de sus propios hijos, por lo que el desconocimiento sobre los cuidados dermatológicos por parte de las familias es el principal tema a abordar. Objetivo: prevenir el deterioro de la integridad cutánea en el paciente pediátrico con Epidermólisis Bullosa. Metodología: proyecto educativo dirigido a padres con hijos diagnosticados de epidermólisis bullosa. Consta de 5 sesiones impartidas a lo largo de un mes. Implicaciones para la práctica enfermera: respecto a la implicación por parte de enfermería, aporta un mayor conocimiento sobre el estado y evolución de las lesiones provocadas por la Epidermólisis Bullosa, cómo tratarlas y realizar los distintos procedimientos de cura con la gran variedad de apósitos existentes.

The epidermolysis bullosa is a disease that causes extreme fragility of the skin, causing traumatic injuries and the appearance of blisters. It is part of the group of rare diseases, therefore its epidemiology and incidence are low and its treatment is based on improving the quality of life, not on eradicate the disease. Thanks to the wide variety of dressings that exist, it has been possible to improve the condition of dermatological lesions caused by the disease and to reduce infections. Although, there are many types of dressings for the treatment of these lesions, their use is not appropriate, so one of the main needs is to instruct the families of these patients on the use of these materials, since most of them have a great lack of knowledge, and this can have a negative impact on the health of their own children, so that ignorance about dermatological care by families is the main issue to resolve. Objective: to prevent the deterioration of skin integrity in the pediatric patient with Epidermolysis Bullosa. Methodology: educational project aimed at parents with children diagnosed with epidermolysis bullosa. Consists of 5 sessions taught over a month. Implications for nurse practice: regarding the involvement of nursing, it provides a greater knowledge about the state and evolution of lesions caused by Epidermolysis Bullosa, how to treat them and perform the different healing procedures with the wide variety of existing dressings.
