Desafíos de la epistemología teológico-moral a la luz de Method in Theology y del Magisterio del papa Francisco

Abstract

Este artículo muestra la gran utilidad de Method in Theology para hacer fructificar las llamadas del papa Francisco a renovar con determinación la estructura del conocimiento y el método de la teología moral, en la senda abierta por el Concilio Vaticano II y teniendo presente la “conciencia histórica” y la “autenticidad” al modo lonerganiano, esto es, la apertura consciente e intencional a la experiencia, en toda su complejidad, y en continua conversión hacia el Evangelio de Jesucristo. Se trata de afrontar las cuestiones fronterizas, salir valientemente al encuentro de las personas con sus búsquedas y sufrimientos intentando que nadie se sienta rechazado por la Iglesia, y practicar modos eficientes de diálogo inter-transdisciplinar y deliberación prudencial en los que la objetividad (no el objetivismo) sea fruto de la auténtica subjetividad, es decir, de las genuinas atención, inteligencia, razonabilidad y responsabilidad. Todo ello para encontrar caminos de participación, diálogo y misión en los cuales el encuentro entre el Espíritu vivo y la experiencia humana permita discernir la voluntad de Dios en lo concreto de la vida, para responder con ayuda de la gracia y en medio de los límites.

This article demonstrates the great usefulness of Method in Theology for bringing to fruition Pope Francis's calls to decisively renew the structure of knowledge and the method of moral theology, following the path opened by the Second Vatican Council and bearing in mind "historical consciousness" and "authenticity" in the Lonerganian sense, that is, the conscious and intentional openness to experience, in all its complexity, and in continuous conversion towards the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It involves facing frontier questions, courageously reaching out to people with their quests and sufferings, striving to ensure that no one feels rejected by the Church, and practicing efficient modes of inter-transdisciplinary dialogue and prudential deliberation where objectivity (not objectivism) is the fruit of authentic subjectivity, that is, genuine attention, intelligence, reasonableness, and responsibility. All of this is to find paths of participation, dialogue, and mission in which the encounter between the living Spirit and human experience allows discerning God's will in the concreteness of life, to respond with the help of grace and amidst limitations.
